A NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM

Prairie Ridge Elementary (located in Firestone on St. Vrain Ranch Blvd.) will be transformed into an old time Jewish marketplace including the sights, smells and many hands-on activities for families.

Please arrive anytime between 6-8pm on Saturday, December 15th.

The Year of the Bible

Read through the Bible in 2007!!!

You are invited to join with the entire CrossPointe family in reading through the Bible in 2007. The purpose of this spiritual adventure is to help us become more knowledgeable in God's word and effecctive in putting it into practice as individuals and as a Church.

The One Year Bible provides a 15 minute daily reading in the New Living Translation from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. The Children's version is excellent for grade school children and can be used as a family devotional tool at meal time or bed time.

Life in Christ cannot be experienced to its fullest extent alone. The moment we came to faith in Christ, God placed us in his family, the body of Christ. His plan was to connect us with other believers for the sake of greater growth, care and impact.

A Pointe Group is a weekly gathering where you can experience just that. In a small group setting, relationships are cultivated which help us understand and apply God's word in meaningful ways, encourage each other in our spiritual journeys and learn to partner together to share our faith in practical ways with the people God has placed in our lives.

Calvary Church in Longmont is a growing, evangelical church, with a 50 year history of solid ministry in the community. They have had an ever-increasing number of families coming to their church from southwest Weld County, including the towns of Firestone, Frederick, Dacono and Erie. The church prayerfully determined to plant a church in this rapidly growing area. In partnership with the Rocky Mountain CBA, an association of churches committed to the fulfillment of the Great Commission, Warren Johnson was brought on staff January 1, 2005, as Church Planting Pastor and team leader for this new church. Various small group activities began in March, designed to build the core group of the new church and prepare for the launch of public ministry on October 2, 2005.

1. The Bible (Old and New Testaments) is the Word of God, without error in the original writings. It is truthful and trustworthy, reflecting God's authorship through Spirit-controlled human personalities. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Psalm 19:7-11; Matthew 5:17-19; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

2. There is only one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (the Trinity), who are equal in every divine perfection, yet execute distinct but harmonious roles in creation and salvation.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6

3. God the Father is the first Person of the Trinity. He is the supreme ruler of the entire universe, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power, and boundless in love. To accomplish His divine purpose, the Father has, at His appointed time, sent forth both God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

4. God the Son, Jesus Christ, is fully divine and fully human. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead. He appeared to many before He ascended into heaven where He intercedes for His people as Lord. He will return to earth to rule according to His promise.

5. God the Holy Spirit is a Person who carries out the will of the Father and glorifies the Son. He exposes guilt and performs the miracle of new birth in an unbeliever. He indwells believers and intercedes for them, enabling them to live a godly life and equipping them with gifts for ministry.

Genesis 1:1-2; John 16:7-15; Romans 8:1-27; I Corinthians 12:1-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 1:13-14

6. Angels are created spiritual beings. Good angels worship and serve God as His messengers and minister to His people. Evil angels, led by Satan, oppose God and His people. The destiny of evil angels is hell.

7. Human beings were created in the image of God to glorify and enjoy Him forever. However, humans, yielding to Satan’s temptation, rebelled against the Creator, rejecting their sinless state and choosing instead a condition of sin, death, and alienation from God. The evil in the world is the result of this rebellion. All human beings are born into this condition of sinfulness and choose to continue to live as sinful beings. Though possessing inherent dignity, all are depraved and in need of saving grace. Those who trust the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation are forgiven of their sinfulness and can glorify and enjoy God now and forever. Those who refuse to trust Jesus Christ will spend eternity in hell, separated from God.

8. Salvation is offered as a gift of God’s grace and is received through faith in Jesus Christ apart from merit, works, or ritual. The Lord Jesus Christ purchased this salvation through His substitutionary death for the forgiveness of our sins, defeating death through His resurrection. Those who are saved are given new life in Christ to do good works. True believers are part of God’s family and He will never disown them.

9. The spiritual body of true Christians is the Church, of which Christ is the head. This body expresses itself in local assemblies of believers who gather together under the authority of God’s Word for worship, instruction, fellowship, service and outreach. The church’s mission is to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ among all nations. At CrossPointe Church we practice the ordinances of believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

For those doctrines not stated above, we allow freedom of belief and the freedom to disagree in love. However, we highly value unity and insist that members do not promote doctrines not listed above such that they cause dissension and division in the body.

Following forty days of instruction from Jesus and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the first century church impacted their world by actively prioritizing four things. (Acts 2:42-47)

Biblical Authority (“the Apostles’ teaching”) Knowing, living and sharing the truth of the bible is foundational for all we do. CrossPointe prioritizes the study and application of God’s word in all our ministries.

Authentic Community (“the fellowship”) The Christian life is experienced and expressed to its fullest when we connect in meaningful ways with others. Our Pointe Group ministry is a small-group, home-based ministry meeting twice a month for a meal or dessert and an extended time as we learn to grow together, care for one another and make on impact in our community together.

Spiritual Intimacy (“the breaking of bread and prayer”) Christianity is not a religion to be practiced in fear but a relationship to be cultivated in love. As Christians, we too often seek to give away something we do not possess ourselves – a genuine, fresh personal relationship with God. “Fresh Encounter” is a one hour time of praise and prayer designed to draw us more closely to God and to each other. Currently, these are being held every other Sunday evening at 6 pm.

Engaging Ministry (“they gave to anyone as he had need”) The life of Christ is meant to be shared through acts of love directed to all those God places in our lives. CrossPointe facilitates personal, small group and large groups activities where we can share the love of Christ with those around us, as well as with those across our nation and around the world.

In the midst of rapidly changing times, God’s word gives us never-changing truth concerning our lives, our families and his church.

The timeless mission of the church is the formation of a people for the praise of God’s glory. (I Peter 2:9) No matter its size, style or setting, the church’s purpose is the glory of God. God’s glory is demonstrated by a redeemed people who experience and express the love and life of Jesus Christ together. (Ephesians 3:10) The church is called by God to help people grow up in maturity in Christ and out in ministry for Christ. (Ephesians 4:16)

Our vision for CrossPointe is to establish a biblically-based, Spirit-lead, relationally-driven, multiplying community of faith to share the love and life of Jesus Christ with the people of southwest Weld County.
